I wrote, produced and hosted this 2015 TV pilot for a regional outdoors show in San Francisco Bay. But the real star was my trail-savvy videographer and the coastal mountain scenery.
As part of the Hills & Hops sponsorship deal, I agreed to write and host an addendum to each show promoting hiking opportunities for beginners and families. This rough cut (before sound optimization) also served as a co-host tryout for two of my most accomplished media-training students.
I wrote and produced this Telly Award-winning holiday campaign for Bay Area Food Banks. The commercial, which aired on San Francisco and Oakland TV stations in November-December 2009, depicted the new face of hunger in a shattered economy: Middle-class, white suburban dwellers.
Sometimes understatement beats all. After the success of the 2009 holiday food banks commercial, the Alameda County Community Food Bank (Oakland) added a six-figure video production to its 2010 budget. But instead of a major media buy, I decided to parse out the budget in a series of inexpensive, grassroots videos that showed off various aspect of our operations (and were irresistible to donors). Using real employees and food bank clients (the twin girls), this video went viral . . . and the girls appeared on Oprah Winfrey.
This video of the tour launch was shown at stops along my 2015-16 book tour for A Good Look Before Dark.
